Wardha Shabbir is participating in the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, titled In Minor Keys, a major exhibition conceived by the late curator Koyo Kouoh. The Biennale opened to the public on May 9 and runs until November 22, 2026.

In Minor Keys brings together more than 100 artists and collectives from across the world, focusing on ideas of listening, fragility, memory, healing, and quieter forms of resistance rather than spectacle. Kouoh’s curatorial vision emphasized emotional and sensory experience, inviting audiences to “shift to a slower gear.”

Shabbir’s practice, rooted in close observation of nature, ecology, and built environments, resonates strongly with the Biennale’s contemplative curatorial framework. Her layered works often explore interdependence, transformation, and the porous relationship between human presence and vegetal life—concerns that align with the exhibition’s broader attention to subtle gestures, intimacy, and slower forms of perception.
