This fall marks the launch of Rubaiya Qatar, a new contemporary art quadrennial unfolding across multiple venues in Qatar. Through exhibitions, public art, performances, and artist commissions, its inaugural edition brings together artists whose practices engage with place, memory, and the world around us.
Developed under ALRIWAQ Art + Architecture, Qatar Museums, the flagship exhibition, Unruly Waters, explores water as a lens through which to consider the connections between geography, ecology, history, and human activity linking Qatar and Asia within wider global networks.
Directed by Sheikha Alanood Al Thani, under the leadership of Sheikha Reem Al Thani and with the support of Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the quadrennial will take place across multiple sites throughout Qatar.
Naiza’s work will be presented alongside that of 50 other artists, including Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Sophia Al Maria, Mohamed Bourouissa, Ade Darmawan, Alia Farid, Dala Nassar, Lydia Ourahmane, Marina Tabassum, and Rirkrit Tiravanija.
