This autumn, Pakistan’s art scene is vibrant, with Lahore Biennale 03 (LB03) and Karachi Biennale 2024 launching a profound artistic dialogue across two of the country’s major cities! ArtNow Pakistan is covering these art biennales extensively and is excited to bring you a remarkable issue this November.

The magazine captures the essence of John Tain’s approach to themes of ecology and sustainable futures. LB03 has unfolded in Lahore’s public spaces, transforming the city into a canvas that connects audiences with contemporary issues through dynamic installations and exhibitions.

Meanwhile, Karachi Biennale 2024, which opened on October 27, has expanded its footprint to five vibrant venues: Sambara Art Gallery, NED University City Campus, Alliance Française, Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim, and the historic Frere Hall. Under the curation of Waheeda Baloch, these venues showcase the vast range of work presented around the theme “Risk/Rizq,” exploring intersections of economic and environmental concerns. In an in-depth interview with Nilofur Farrukh, CEO of Karachi Biennale Trust, we discuss how this biennale engages with pressing urban and social issues.

Our November issue brings readers exclusive conversations with Qudsia Rahim, Director of LB03, and John Tain, Curator of LB03, offering insight into the vision behind Lahore’s diverse exhibitions. Additionally, our photo essay captures captivating installations displayed throughout Lahore, highlighting the city’s vibrant transformation amidst climate challenges. ArtNow also profiles visiting international artists and includes in-depth essays that explore the biennale’s critical direction, written by our correspondents.

ArtNow Pakistan has also been bringing live coverage of both LB03 and Karachi Biennale 2024 to our social media channels, keeping our audience updated on these unfolding events in real time.

As the season progresses, our art calendar remains full of events, making this issue an essential guide for art enthusiasts and professionals. From critical reviews to interviews with artists and curators shaping today’s discourse, ArtNow Pakistan is here to celebrate and document these momentous chapters of art—both in print and across our social media platforms.
