Dear Readers,

I welcome you to the June issue of ArtNow Pakistan. Each month, we dedicate our issue to a different art-focused subject.  This month, we dedicate the issue to a prestigious and renowned art institute, the National College of Arts. NCA is the oldest art school of Pakistan and the second oldest in South Asia. This year, the institute is celebrating 150 years of excellence.

Quddus Mirza writes about a 4 week’s artists’ residency in his editorial. To commemorate the services of this prestigious Art School, Art Now has an InFocus essay by Haroon Shuaib giving a detailed insight into NCA. Also, please read a detailed profile of the  Vice Chancellor Murtaza Jafri by Sumbul Natalia. Also included in this issue is a brief photo essay showing the archives of NCA. Also highlighted are photo essays that capture the moments of the 150-year celebration.

Please also read our International Editor Malaika Rahimtola’s interesting article ‘Encounters: Giacometti and Huma Bhabha. Moreover, art reviews from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and international news in the blogs are included in our June’s issue.

I would like to extend my hearties congratulations to Risham Syed for exhibiting in the Newark Museum and Rashid Rana for his captivating exhibition Fractured Moments at frieze.

After two years of dedicated effort, Amin Gulgee launched his book No Man’s Land at the Amin Gulgee Studio. The publication offers a reflective exploration of the artist’s life and his multifaceted creative practice.

Arts Council had arranged a talk on Mehr Afroz’s life and legacy moderated by Amra Ali. The panelists included Niilofur Farrukh, Nusrat Khwaja, Zohra Husain and Noorjehan Bilgrami.  ArtNow has covered this important talk in the review section.

Stay tuned for more exciting issues

Bye for NOW !
