Dear Readers,
Welcome to the May issue of ArtNow Pakistan. This month, we dedicate the issue to Mrs Zohra Husain, a renowned gallerist, philanthropist, passionate art lover, and founder of Chawkandi Art Gallery.
In this edition, we highlight Mrs Husain, affectionately known as Zohra Apa in the art world, her tireless efforts, her immense contributions to the art industry, her experience at the BBC, her association with Zia Mohiuddin, and her stint in acting with the late, famous actor Shashi Kapoor.
I hope you enjoy this exclusive video interview with Mrs Zohra Husain, in which she candidly talks about her difficulties in setting up the gallery. It was both a pleasure and an honour to sit down with her as she shared her artistic journey and her vision for running her gallery. Additionally, we feature Mrs Zohra Hussain in the Profile section of the magazine.
Please don’t miss Quddus Mirza’s editorial in Editor’s View, an in-depth essay by ArtNow’s International Correspondent and Deputy Editor, Malaika Rahimtoola, and an an article on Art Dubai 2025, a photo essay from Chawkandi’s archives, and reviews from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad covering prominent exhibitions and international art happenings in our Blog section.
