Unfolds as a contemplative exhibition that brings together seventeen artists from across the world, each engaging with the idea of illumination through materially and conceptually diverse practices. Drawing its title and thematic grounding from Ayah al-Noor, the exhibition does not attempt to define light as a singular or fixed idea; instead, it allows light to appear as something layered, felt through texture, pattern, repetition, and quiet reflection.Across mediums such as gold-gilded Arabic geometry, textile installations, architectural photography, sculptural forms, and mixed-media compositions, the works invite viewers to slow down and encounter light as presence rather than spectacle.
Some pieces gesture toward sacred geometries and devotional traditions, while others approach illumination through nature, architecture, or the intimate labor of the hand. Together, these varied approaches create a shared atmosphere of stillness, where light becomes both a spiritual metaphor and a material condition, something that reveals, shelters, and holds meaning without insisting upon it.
Rather than offering a singular narrative, Light Upon Light creates space for personal reflection. The exhibition feels less like an offering, one that acknowledges the many ways light is understood, carried, and interpreted across cultures and practices. In doing so, it gently affirms light not only as something seen, but as something experienced inwardly, through memory, faith, and quiet attention.
