On the evening of May 10, 2025, the elegant Atrium of Hotel Bayerischer Hof will host a thought-provoking conversation between artist Leiko Ikemura, architect Philipp von Matt, and phenomenologist Prof. Dr. Franz Xaver Baier. Moderated by Baier, the event unfolds as part of the Various Others “Unconference” and offers a rare opportunity to explore the intimate overlaps between artistic and architectural practice.
What happens when the boundaries between art and architecture dissolve? This question lies at the heart of the fireside talk, prompted by Ikemura’s recent curatorial project at Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle. Her interdisciplinary group exhibition brings together 13 artists and architects—figures who blur definitions and gently unsettle convention through poetic interpretations of the world around them.
Far from a formal panel, this conversation promises to be an open-ended reflection on how ideas emerge and evolve in the creative process. Whether shaping space or image, all three speakers share a sensitivity to how material, memory, and emotion inform their work. In an age of increasing fragmentation, their dialogue offers a timely meditation on the quiet threads that connect us across disciplines and through shared ways of seeing.
