            Curtain - Pierre Alechinsky

For the 21st Safety Curtain exhibition conceived by museum in progress and organised in cooperation with the Wiener Staatsoper and the Bundestheater-Holding since 1998, the jury (Daniel Birnbaum, Hans-Ulrich Obrist) has chosen the internationally renowned Belgian artist Pierre Alechinsky.

His large-format picture (176 m²) will be presented at a festive press conference in the Wiener Staatsoper on Friday, 2 November 2018 at 11am. We kindly ask you to register for the event: office@mip.at, +43 1 533 58 40.

On the occasion of Pierre Alechinsky’s 2018/2019 Safety Curtain, museum in progress is offering seven limited and signed lithographs from various work periods of the artist. By purchasing them, art and opera enthusiasts will be making an important contribution to the continuation of this exhibition series. These works, which feature many-layered references to the Safety Curtain, are also shown in an exhibition at the opera house.

The Safety Curtain 2018/2019 is kindly supported by the Kingdom of Belgium, the Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) and Belcolade (Puratos Austria GmbH).

The exhibition series Safety Curtain is a project of museum in progress in cooperation with the Vienna State Opera and the Bundestheater-Holding.
