In “Raze to the Ground! / Politics of Playgrounds”, Noor us Sabah will explore Osama Bin Laden’s death site in regional, national and international contexts. The presentation and talk will focus on the decisions that have been taken in Pakistan a right way of dealing with the site? Are monuments needed to make a site memorable or its emptiness offers place for more effective remembrance.
Noor us Sabah lives and works in Karachi, Pakistan. She has an MFA in Public Art and New Artistic Strategies from Bauhaus-University Weimar and a BFA from the Visual Studies Department of University of Karachi. She has a range of significant exhibitions, residencies and participatory projects alongside artistic research training in Karachi and Copenhagen. Noor has interest in pedagogies of social justice and projects with high social impact. Her art and contemporary writing focuses on erasure and voice, presence and emergence. Each of her works invites participation into an artistic experience linked to playgrounds, shopping malls and consumption. Her work encompasses performance, video, drawing and sculpture, alongside a strong writing and community action focus.
